Filament Spectrum PLA Tough

Tough as ABS, easy to print as PLA

Spectrum PLA Tough is a specially modified consumable for 3D printing. Processing focused on improving the properties of this material at the monomer level has enabled a huge range of applications. It is an ideal solution for printing functional parts with mechanical properties close to ABS while maintaining the ease of printing and low shrinkage of PLA.

The use of unique additives that change the polymer structure has enabled, among others:

• significant reduction of shrinkage compared to classic PLA-based materials. This allows for printing large-format elements;
• improvement of adhesion of printed elements to working platforms;
• achieving higher impact resistance of printed components compared to their ABS equivalents;
• maintaining high stiffness typical for elements made of undoped PLA;
• eliminating the brittleness typical for objects printed
  from undoped PLA. This also achieves higher adhesion between layers of material;
• obtaining more matte surfaces compared to unmodified PLA;
• enabling mechanical processing of printed parts, which is difficult or impossible in the case of standard PLA. In this way, the produced elements can be sanded, milled, drilled, turned;
• eliminating toxic and annoying fumes characteristic of ABS printing;
• exposing the combined advantages of PLA and mechanical ABS while maintaining full biodegradability.

The characteristic properties of Spectrum PLA Tough allow the use of the material in applications where high impact resistance is required with very low shrinkage during component processing.
